Space Imaging Middle East announces the development of GeoBrowser

on .

Space Imaging Middle East’s (SIME) GIS department has recently announced the development of its new cross-platform software application, GeoBrowser.

Developed to cater to a growing need amongst SIME’s clients for a lightweight imagery browser, Geo Browser is capable of importing satellite imagery, topographic maps and images from multiple other data sources and visually displaying the imagery in a seamless manner, allowing users to explore the earth.

The application is designed to run in standalone or client-server mode, dynamically downloading its images from offline or online sources as required. This ensures that it provides a fast and efficient service and an unlimited offline cache.

Users are also given an opportunity to personalize their navigation because Geo Browser features options such as database searches, zooming capabilities and rotation of imagery.

The application is highly flexible and is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux (x86 and amd64) and Solaris platforms, and is available to SIME clients.

GeoBrowser is currently undergoing testing and the first version is expected to be released in early 2008.
